Now let me explain how my bias is supported

Staraptor used to be the bird Rock types feared

Now Corviknight and Flamigo share this with it, but Staraptor is the original with Close Combat

But, let's not forget Gigalith has Sturdy

Tank that move and the bird is dead

MEGA EVOLUTION!!!

Staraptor got a Mega in the Z-A DLC and it now becomes Flying/Fighting

Rock moves are just effective!

Has type advantage and doesn’t have to waste its item slot for a mega stone and has a defense stat higher than staraptor in its mega which allows it to tank moves from the physically built staraptor if you look at mega staraptor and gigalith stats there about the same except for speed which gigalith is way slower and since gigalith is not in z-a therefore doesn’t have a moveset like that and the main way we judge battles is in mainline games the last mainline game staraptor only had two fighting type moves one of them being final gambit which will always result with staraptor fainting first and close combat which as said before gigalith has rest snore and sturdy so if you get gigalith to 1hp he can just heal back up with your defenses and since gigalith has no mega he can hold a berry that reduces the damage of a super effective fighting type attack and have rest and snore to go back to full hp and do damage and gigalith high defense stat higher than staraptor in its mega form staraptor may have to look at the weaker defense being special all of staraptors special moves are resisted by gigalith and gigalith have a few that do super effective damage to regular staraptor and a few that do neutral damage also gigalith has much better attack move coverage than staraptor which staraptor has definitely more support moves

Even though staraptor has a mega the mega only builds it to be like gigalith (except the speed) at the cost of losing an items with poor move coverage gigalith wins for sure
