Campaign Update: So I finished Drayton’s trial and rolled over him like a hot knife through butter. Kieran was a mild nuisance since he opens with a Politoed with Drizzle that counters my Snow Warning with Beira since it’s slower so I opted to counter with my Golduck and deny both of us the pleasure of weather. I then used Dazzling Gleam to pierce Dragonite’s Multiscale before Golduck finished it with Ice Beam(not even the Ice damage Berry(Yache?) could save it). The rest of his team fell in short order, although I was not expecting Fighting Tera on his Ace since he focused down Beira over the course of the fight that brought out Gallade and well… Psychic Type… enough said. After defeating Kieran I focused on grinding BP from BBQ’s. I should do multiplayer on this at some point given their massive points but I’ve grinded out two Biome expansions for the regional starters. Did Savannah first for Totodile, Sobble, Charmander, Fennekin, Snivy and Rowlet. Then did Coastal and I’ve found four of the six. I won’t look up which ones they are but I’d wager they’re all Grass and Water Types given the Biome and the fact I’ve found Bulbasaur and Chikorita with Grookey confirmed to be there but I haven’t found one yet. As for Water types, got Popplio and Froakie but I wonder what the other Water Type is. Probably Mudkip or Squirtle but I’ll find out when I get it. Could also be a Fire Type but I doubt it. When I find and catch the starters(and evolve them), I’ll be at 224/243, 229/243 when I finish the story and get Terapagos, Pecharunt and Paradox variants of the Johto Dogs(ex: Gouging Fire). I just need a Trade partner to get Alolan Golem, Rhyperior, Electivire, Magmortar, Kingdra,Porygon-Z, Shieldon, Alolan Sandshrew and the Paradox variants of the Swords of Justice(ex: Iron Crown). Once I do I can finally 100% this game and get onto the next game in my library which will most likely be Z-A.

PS: @Hades0918 Figure I’d share that the Female Alolan Vulpix I caught happens to be Shiny. I didn’t notice it at first either. I also bred more Vulpix via Beira as the mother because she has the Hidden ability. I used this fact to get a Drought Vulpix and another Snow Warning Alolan Vulpix with me as the OT. The starting moveset of the baby Alolan Vulpix is just not fair… Powder Snow, Aurora Veil, Freeze Dry and Blizzard. Didn’t look to see what the Drought Ninetales had. Egg Power makes the process blazing fast, doubly so with Flame Body on Magmar.

I can't guarantee shiny, but I'll search for an Alolan Sandshrew for you

    Hey, I wanted to ask

Can I have an Alolan Vulpix with Snow Warning (and preferably female)

I have been developing a strategy and I want it in it

It is for Double Battles and I start with Controversy Malamar and Trace Gardevoir

Gardevoir uses Skill Swap, giving Malamar a random ability and taking Controversy

Then, retreat Malamar and send an Infernape with Iron Fist and Skill Swap again

Infernape has Controversy and Gardevoir has Iron Fist

That feels weird for a Gardevoir, however, you can teach it Fire, Ice, and Thunder Punch

Give it a Boxing Glove and it is more powerful with Iron Fist

Infernape has a Muscle Band and you can spam Close Combat, Superpower, and Overheat (I haven't decided 4th attack)

Also, Gardevoir will have Stellar Type because, even though it only works once, it will add a whole lot more damage

Inferape will have Fighting Terra (since that is what will be getting used most)

    That's only three Pokémon

I plan to use the last one as a supporter

I will switch between using Snow Warning Alolan Ninetales and Prankster Grimmsnarl

The Ninetales will hold an Icy Rock to make the snow last longer. It then uses Aurora Veil. This will add to the Defense that Infernape is already increasing for itself each turn. Its other moves are Blizzard, Freeze Dry, and Dazzling Gleam. The idea is Infernape will target one opponent while Ninetales hits both. Plus, Ninetales covers Infernape's weaknesses. Blizzard on Flying types and Freeze Dry on Water. Plus, Ninetales can hit Ghost types. Not super effective, but Infernape's main attacks can't do that. (Also, the snow powers up Gardevoir's Ice Punch)

Grimmsnarl will hold Light Clay (I think that's what it is) to make Light Screen and Reflect last longer. As you can guess, its first two moves will be those. Since it has Prankster, it will go first, giving me immediate protection. After that, it will use Scary Face (which is first because it's status) on Infernape. Infernape has Controversy, meaning it gets Speed increase instead, making it fast and sturdy at the same time (since Close Combat and Light Screen and Reflect give it better Defense). Its last move is Snarl. Hits both enemies and decrease their Special Attack, making them do even less damage to my side. This is really good when the enemy has Ghost Types since Infernape cantt hit and Dark is Super Effective.

Which one I use will depend on my opponent's team

I still haven't figured out my 6th option (which probably won't even get used)

Also, good job on the Shiny!

I was tired when I read it and didn't know why you were telling me

So I want to make sure to congratulate you!

I'll do the trade evolutions and get Alolan Sandshrew, but other than that I can't help

I don't know where the Paradoxes are

Your strategy is predicated on both surviving and Infernape can be brittle while Gardevoir doesn’t handle Physical moves all that well(can take a special hit though). Snow doesn’t power up Ice Punch last I checked. All Snow does is bump the Defense of Ice Types by 50%, removes Accuracy check on Blizzard(always hits), changes Weather Ball to Ice and activates the following abilities: Snow Face(Eiscue primarily), Ice Body(HP regen), Snow Cloak(Evasion) and Slush Rush(like Sand Rush in a Sandstorm). Slush Rush is particularly strong given it doubles Speed and THAT would be good in a Snow setting but can be crippled with either Trick Room or Cloud Nine ability.

As for Snow Warning Alolan Vulpix, I bred a female with the ability via Beira. The shiny Female I caught doesn’t have it but shiny works differently with respect to breeding(so getting a shiny Snow Warning baby is pure luck). I also bred a male that has Snow Cloak but for the purposes of passing along ability, the ability of the mother is all that matters and it’s a 60/40 chance each egg. I cannot guarantee perfect IV’s or ideal Nature but given Nature Mints and Bottlecaps exist, those two issues can be resolved through that. EV training is also your concern I would think and I can have one bred and hatched by later tonight.

Campaign Update: So I finished upgrading the remaining Biomes and caught all remaining starters. Turns out Mudkip was the final one in Coastal Biome or 3 Grass and 3 Water composition. Polar Biome had 4 Fire types, with Cyndaquil and Torchic being a royal pain to find(other two in Chimchar and Scorbunny weren’t that hard). Canyon Biome had the rest or 3 Grass(Treecko, Turtwig and Chespin), 2 Fire(Litten + Tepig) and 1 Water(Squirtle). Had to try twice on Squirtle because I didn’t know it learns Wave Crash so that meant False Swiping it down meant instant KO. With all starters in the fold, I’m at 224/243. Got the tip from Perrin concerning the Paradox Johto Dogs so when I go back to Area Zero, I’ll be catching them along with Terapagos. Pecharunt will eventually be caught as well, leaving just the Violet exclusives and Trade Evolutions, I’ll have to trade Porygon twice and may have to back out of the Trade screen to assign it the 2nd item.

I don't care about IV or EV

Also, I thought Snow powered up all Ice type attacks

Anyways, I'll take one still, please

I intend to give Gardevoir maxed out EV in Defense and Attack

Infernape will be maxed in Attack and Defense, as well

The only weather conditions that power up attacks are Sunlight(via Drought or Sunny Day) or Rain(via Drizzle or Rain Dance). Sun buffs Fire by 50%, cuts Water by 50%, Solar Beam + Solar Blade ignore charging turn, Hydro Steam is boosted 50%(unique move of Walking Wake), Thunder + Hurricane accuracy cut to 50, Synthesis, Morning Sun and Moonlight regen 66% HP(16% more), Growth raises Attack by two stages instead of one, Chlorophyll Pokémon have their Speed doubled, Dry Skin Pokémon take extra Fire Damage and lose HP each turn, Cherrim changes form and gets stronger Attack/Special Attack, Pokémon with Leaf Guard ability cannot be afflicted with status conditions, Weather Ball power doubles and turns into Fire damage, Castform becomes a Fire type and Paradox Pokémon have their power boosted. Probably forgetting one thing but that’s Sunlight for ya.

For Rain… it’s pretty much a 180 of Sun with Water getting buffed 50%, Fire cut 50%, Solar Beam takes two turns to charge, Thunder + Hurricane accuracy increased to 100, Bleakeind Storm, Wildbolt storm and Sandsear Storm accuracy increased to 100(our lovable Unova Weather trio uses those), Synthesis, Morning Sun and Moonlight regen 25%(aka half of what they do normally), Dry Skin Pokémon regen HP every turn and 25% of their HP if hit by a Water attack, Pokémon with Hydration are cured of status conditions, Pokémon with Rain Dish regen HP, Swift Swim Pokémon have their speed doubled, Weather Ball power doubled and becomes Water and Castform becomes a Water type.

Sandstorm and Hail were the Weather effects that damaged all Pokémon that didn’t have a particular ability or were not a particular type. They also cut Synthesis, Morning Sun and Moonlight in a similar fashion to Rain so basically if you want to hamper people who use that, make it Rain or Snow as they say. Sandstorm still buffs Rock Type Special Defense but Hail was changed to Snow in Gen 9. Instead of damaging opponents like Hail did, it only impacts the Defense of Ice types by 50% and raises Blizzard’s accuracy to 100. The abilities of Pokémon like Snow Cloak are only active if there is Snow active. No Snow, no Cloak or benefit. The reason Snow Warning on Alolan Ninetales is so nice is because it gets a big Defense boost but also because Aurora Veil requires Snow to be active to work. It cuts Physical and Special damage by 33%, compared to Reflect or Light Screen that only affect one but at 50%. So rather than Icy Rock, you’ll want Light Clay to increase the duration of Aurora Veil from 5 turns to 8. Your team benefits from that more than the Snow.

As for Alolan Vulpix, I just bred more of the little beasts and got a few females and even a male with the HA. All of them have Powder Snow, Aurora Veil, Freeze Dry and Blizzard pre-installed. Nature and IV’s will have to adjusted by you though. I also have a Drought Vulpix(Female) if interested but I’ll have to breed more if you want one.

Campaign Update: Finished Indigo Disk and caught Gouging Fire and Raging Bolt along the way. Seems Walking Wake and it’s counterpart Iron Leaves are event Pokémon though. Guess I’ll have to do it with someone and/or trade with someone that already has them. Will get around to doing Pecharunt eventually.

So having finished Indigo Disk, and the fact my other reply hasn’t appeared yet, I figured I’d do an addendum with character reactions. Carmine… Bully vibes from her. Then again most teenage girls are bullies in some way but Carmine would pick on anyone she didn’t respect, including her timid younger brother Kieran. Speaking of Kieran, that bullying caused him to basically snap when despite everything he does ultimately results in failure. It’s that mentality that turns into an unhealthy obsession. An obsession that took advantage of Professor Briar in Area Zero. Briar doesn’t deserve Prison but her obsession put others into harms way and that is justifiable cause for termination. Perrin is alright but is basically there to send you on side quests or to unlock certain Pokémon. That makes her kind of forgettable. Lacey is probably the best character or is the most memorable of the BBE4. Her father is Clay with rumors on who her mother truly happens to be but she steals the scene whenever she’s involved. Amarys is a bit uptight with a secret crush on Kieran. It’s a guess at this point after getting the permanent flight ability for Koraidon but given she’s close friends with Carmine, she sees Kieran a lot. Crispin is a relatable character who’s sole mark of fame is not being able to read a room(I sometimes fall into that category). Finally Drayton is someone who has a famous parent and basically has an indifferent personality. Drives Lacey up the wall so who knows if there’s more to it. Director Cyrano could have been Clavel and I wouldn’t notice. Not sure what they were going for here but an unremarkable character that doesn’t really do their job.

@Hades0918 might want to battle all trainers in the terrarium. Not only do you get 3200 BP(800 per Zone) but also some nice TM’s. In addition, you get 5 Ability Patches when you finish battling all of them. You get another one by getting to 230 species on the BB Dex and if you fly up to the core in the middle of the terrarium, you’ll get another Ability Patch, Gold Bottlecap and 50 Stellar Tera shards. Also get a Gold Bottlecap for 210 species in Dex and having all the right responses for Team Star tutoring side quest. In other words, completion has its rewards.

    I've done the core one

First thing I did when I got flight due to pure curiosity

I'm good without the Fire Fox, but thank you

I knew the effects of Sun and Rain, but I just always thought Sandstorm buffed Rock attacks and Snow Ice. I miss Hail, though. It made battles harder.

Anyways, we need to set up a time to trade

I'll give you the Alolan Sandshrew for Alolan Vulpix and after that we can get all your trade evolutions done

I don't have the paradoxes, though, so you'll need to find someone else for that (unless you want to wait a while for me to track and catch them ĺ

Also random question, have you talked to Snacksworth yet?

(Also, just to give in my own input on the characters, I only loved Crispin, hated Kierren, and the rest were just alright)

Haven’t done Snacksworth yet or bothered to do Pecharunt yet. As for the Paradoxes, you can catch your version Paradoxes in Area Zero if you talk to Perrin in Savannah starting area after getting 200 species in Dex. Their locations can be looked up online if you need help finding them, although Perrin gives you pictures of where they are(not much help but it’s something). I also need Shieldon, which you can find in Canyon biome. I got a Cranidos for it on standby. I got the items needed for each Trade evolution ready to go but I might have to temporarily back out of the link trade to assign the Dubious Disc to Porygon2 after I get it back. Not sure if you can do that while in a Link Trade so perhaps we should save Porygon until last but outside of that yeah I’m all set to go. Let me know if you need Gouging Fire and Raging Bolt data. As for a time, 02:30 UTC tonight or another day and time, your call.

2:30 should work and I'll return them but I'd like them

I'm playing with my sibling right now, but remind me the item necessary for Porygon-Z and I'll do that for you

Also, yes or no for Alolan Vulpix
