What if we simply try to convince the mods to remove flags? Flags contribute nothing. Reports are there if someone is very bad, and to show disagreement or dislike we have disagrees.
Constantly reviving the post where people asked for an edit button worked after a year, so that's the most effective method I've seen so far. You should make a post in the Feedback section and comment on it saying something about why they should remove flags every few days or weeks.

That’s a good idea, but by that point, the war would’ve been lost
editing is something everyone wants, this is something only a few people want, and I’m not saying to remove flags. I’m just saying to get more attention on them so that way just be thrown around
