I was going over my old cards...
I cannot believe how different TCG has become!
I started collecting back in X and Y
I wasn't a player back then
I started playing in Shrouded Fable
So going back and seeing all the old cards, I was shocked to realize that they seem weak!
But strangely, the old cards seemed more balanced
With them being weaker I feel like the games would have lasted longer and probably been more fun
The Mega cards back then were not overpowered like they are now
Honestly, you don't even have to go all the way back to XY
In Sun and Moon I think they started making their cards stronger but it didn't make them overpowered
Some point in Sword and Shield I think is where things started getting out of hand
Anyways, I just thought it was crazy how insignificant the old cards feel compared to now

It's absolutely wild that we considered GMax and GX and V-star to be so strong
and now here we are not even looking at them anymore because of how strong the newer cards have gotten…instead of a back and forth close game, games can now end on turns 3 or 4

Out of all the TCGs I play (which is a lot), Pokemon had the greatest power creep.
There was a Pokemon TCG video game released for Gameboy Color when I was a kid. Give it a shot. When Wizards of The Coast first made the game, it was balanced and VERY fun.
Dont take me wrong, its still fun now. But the cards are not given near the amount of thought that they once were before they got sold to the pokemon company.
