Thoughts on Legends Z-A
When I got the game in my hands I ran to play the game and beat it… and I surprisingly did beat it fast for my standards (took at least 5 days playing it every day and beat it in 22 hours). When I played the game I fell in love with the new combat system, it is probably the best thing to come out of this game. When I entered Lumiose I saw a pretty big city that had roads and shops and all sorts of new and familiar things, it was nice how I was playing within Lumiose again… except there were only a select few buildings that you could actually enter minus the restaurants. That was a big bummer as I expected an authentic city experience as seen in many other games, but the gameplay and story kept me going a bit. With the story the characters and plot was good but my main criticism in this game is that everyone is too nice. It feels like every character in that game is trying to be your best friend no matter what which doesn't really give as much meaning to some of them and makes it feel unrealistic. Regardless of that I tolerated it as the game was fun to play, albeit repetitive, but that was fine as the Z-A was just building up for a grander story and there would be more content later and possibly a bunch of post game content (as I was expecting a loaded game cause it wasn't priced cheap). I beat the final story, having a good time and was satisfied with how the game ended. But even then I was not satisfied with it because as I said I beat the game relatively quick so I wanted some solid post-game content. I played the post game and I get my wish… except they force me to do more Z-A Royale which at that time I had gotten bored of. So what about Legendary Pokemon or a nice epilogue, usually there is a ton of them… well they were merged and mostly just side missions doing things I have already done/planning to do anyways so that was lame. Then i was looking for more post game content cause that really couldn't have been it, right? Well… it was. I came to this game like 4 months after beating Persona 5 Royal so I had high expectations of the content as that game was brimming with stuff to do even without the Royal content, that game took me 85 hours to beat with basically a full week dedicated to only playing that game. Persona 5 Royal is also similarly priced to Legends Z-A at full price for the switch, although it did not have as good as a combat system as Legends Z-A it triumphed in terms of areas to explore and things to do, even story wise it was better because the characters felt like real people and not just your best friend plus the length of the story is longer than for Legends Z-A.
Overall Pokemon Legends Z-A is not worth 60$, 40$ is a better price considering the lackluster content (this isn't even including the fact that the DLC content is an extra 30$). The new combat system is revolutionary and is the new gold standard for the future games as well as the game itself being a solid yet barren and repetitive experience, but for that price it isn't worth buying the game. There are better games to get on the switch than Legends Z-A, maybe a discounted price would be better.

Okay first up I want to note the fact that $60 is the starting price. It JUST came out a month ago. Scarlet/Violet was $70 when it came out, totally not worth it. So it'll go down with time. Second, characters being nice, well, first of all I don't remember anyone being a jerk in X/Y besides Lysandre and Xerosic- even the Team Flare Grunt were kinda nice sometimes. That, and it's still a series that 95% of is rated E- until now. I know people who seriously got angry at Bede and NOT in a good way.

Me too, but my friend hates him more than anything and it’s slightly obsessive sometimes
