I have to pick up my copy from EB Games tomorrow, which I may push back to Friday or Saturday cause those days are busy. This game is gonna be the gold standard for future Pokémon gameplay I can feel it.

Waiting for it to come out because I pre-ordered it on an American account instead of a NZ/AU or European or Asian one, meaning I need to wait a while into the 16th.

No. I don't like the real-time combat, Pokémon can't be transferred to other games and going back to Kalos just to be stuck in Lumiose City is disappointing.
We'll see how gen 10 looks.

I'm a little over 3 hours into the game right now.
You need to wait 3 hours before the game lets you explore, there's no shop interiors (SV-style shops), there's barely any buildings you can enter (at least early game), and the battles are, as expected, annoying and exhausting. I'd be lying if I said I'm not enjoying it, but it looks like those rumours that said they only started working on Z-A a short while before they announced it were true. And the textures look so ugly, I wish they'd stick to a more stylised style that looks good instead of trying to appeal to the average person and their "Realistic = BETTER! Open World = BETTER!" opinions. But the cutscenes have been nice so far, and I'm having fun. I gasped out loud when I heard what the hotel theme was, and I almost cried at the beginning when the Lumiose City theme played since Lumiose is my favourite city from the game I started with and I've spent many, many hours there.
So far, I like it, but unless the game gets much, much better later on or I find a Fennekin and a Delphoxite, I might decide to borrow instead of buy the next Pokémon game. They took so long to make this, and it is better than SV, but not by enough, especially considering how rushed that game was.
Reminder: I may have focused on the things I dislike, but I am enjoying the game so far. It's not bad, but it just feels like it's SV in Kalos.
