Pokémon Forums Story Rewrite Book 1 Chapter 3

Book 1: The Start of a Journey
Chapter 3: Where It All Begins…
“Alright boys” Daisy said “Try not to hurt your Pokémon too badly.”
“Where’s the fun in that!” Jax said with a smile “Let’s do this!”
“Alright Snivy, use Tackle!”
Snivy ran to Mudkip and hit him.
“Come on Mudkip use something!”
Mudkip used Growl, lowering Snivy’s attack.
“Ok, it’s fine Snivy!” Arlo said “Can you do the same?”
Snivy decided to use Leer, lowering Mudkip’s defense.
“Now’s your chance, Snivy use Tackle!”
“Not if I do it first, Mudkip use Tackle!”
The two Pokémon ran into each other and fell back. They then did it again until only Snivy could get back up.
“Come on Mudkip!”
“Snivy, come back.”
Arlo gave it some time to see what happened, Mudkip managed to get up but he returned to Jax.
“And the winner is… Arlo!” Daisy said with some cheeriness.
“I guess the match is over, huh” Jax said in disappointment.
“Yeah but that sure was fun!” Arlo said “I was surprised I won though, you usually beat me at most things. I guess this is one of the few things I can beat you at.”
“Don’t be so confident Arlo, I will beat you next time” Jax said with a determined expression “But first we should probably head to Silverberry though.”
“Yeah, let’s go.” Arlo said.
With that the three made their way out of their home town, officially, and headed into the Wild Rose road.
…
The Wild Rose road is a flatland with some forestry with many Bouffalants roaming the plains. It is nearby the Diglett Mountain strip on the east side so it is drier than the west side. The three decided to bike until they found something cool looking and were biking for about an hour until Arlo had noticed something.
“Hold on guys, is that a lake to our right?” Arlo said to the others.
“Sharp eyes Arlo, let’s stop here.” Jax said and the three parked their bikes and made their way to the lake.
The lake was a beautiful site as the forest had cleared a bit and opened the sight of the Diglett mountains. The water was crystal clear due to the water from the glaciers, showing a reflection of the mountains on its surface. There weren’t a lot of Pokémon to be found with the occasional school of Barboach but it was still beautiful enough for the trio to take a break.
“Oh my god…” Daisy said in disbelief “This is gorgeous!”
“Truly a sight to behold, yeah?” Jax said “I say we have a lunch break, anyone up for some sandwiches?”
“Yeah, give me the grilled Lechonk sandwich will ya?” Arlo said.
The three called out their Pokémon and ate their sandwiches in front of the breathtaking view and enjoyed their meal. They were all lost at the beautiful sights and just got lost in the view. At least a half hour past until a noise broke Arlo’s trance and caused him to look behind. Arlo couldn’t believe what he saw, a wild Pawmi! Pawmi is an orange gerbil-like Pokémon with yellow cheeks, large ears with a blue inner ear, and a cute white snout. The Pawmi was forraging for food and had its back turned towards Arlo.
Arlo tapped Snivy and pointed towards the Pawmi.
“Take him hard and fast” Arlo whispered to Snivy. The Snivy nodded in understanding.
The Snivy creeped up towards the Pawmi until it was close enough to make an accurate attack.
“Snivy go loud!” Arlo yelled startling the Pawmi and his friends, with that Snivy tackled Pawmi and knocked it sensless. “That’s how it’s done Snivy!” Arlo said as he tossed a Pokéball at the Pawmi.
“What the world Arlo!” Jax said.
The Pokéball hit the Pawmi and forced it in the ball. The ball shook around a bit, showing possible signs of breaking. Arlo was gripping his hands tight in suspense hoping that it would work. Eventually the ball stopped moving and made a success noise, indicating that the Pawmi was caught.
“I… caught it?” Arlo said in disbelief until the fact that he caught a Pokémon finally hit him “I caught my first Pokémon!”
“Way to go Arlo!” Daisy said with a smile on her face.
“Congrats Arlo.” Jax said.
Arlo rushed to get his new Pokémon and sent it out, it was a cute little Pawmi and seemed to be happy to be out of its Pokéball and meeting its new trainer.
“Awwwww! It’s so cute!” Daisy said.
“Let me check to see if its a He or a She first” Arlo said as he pulled out his Pokédex “It’s a She.”
“She’s so adorable! I just wanna cuddle with it all day!” Daisy said making her Scorbunny jealous.
“Well then…” Jax said with a bit of a pause “I guess I better find a second Pokémon for myself now huh.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll help you out.” Arlo said “I think this is a good point to pack up and head off.”
“Agreed, let’s bounce” Jax said.
The three made their way along the path searching for a new Pokémon for Jax until they stumbled upon some sort of digsite of some sort. The forest was cleared in this area and it seemed as if they were searching for the remains of ancient Pokémon. At the sight was a lady wearing a brown archeologists shirt and beige pants with working boots.
“This area is only for researchers, please leave” The woman said.
“But this place looks cool, why shouldn’t I stay?”
“Because it’s restricted, so make yourself scarce before I have to force you out!”
While the two were having a heated conversation Jax noticed a fossil that almost looked like a jaw and was big enough to fit in his backpack. Jax quickly made sure no one was looking and stuffed the fossil right into his bag. Jax then made his way back to the group as Arlo stormed away with Daisy.
“That lady is really persistent on keeping us out, we can find Pokémon for you somewhere else.” Arlo said “Either way its getting late and we are about 30 minutes away from Silverberry, let’s go.”
“Agreed” Jax said.
The three made their way off to Silverberry and would arrive there shortly.
…
The three had arrived at Silverberry and it was much different than Dogwood. For starters the amount of tall skyscrapers in the background shocked Arlo as he had never seen such a large amount of them, second the air was not as clean as in Dogwood, and third the lack of greenery was not something the three enjoyed. The three made their way to their hotel and unwinded, there were two queen sized beds and a pull out bed and Arlo and Daisy already called dibs on the beds. As they were unpacking Jax saw the fossil he had taken from the archaeology site.
“Hey Arlo, Daisy, come here for a second” Jax said “Remember that archaeology site with that kind lady who Arlo had a swell time with?”
“Don’t remind me” Arlo said.
“Well… while you were yelling away I managed to bring a souvenir with me, check this out!”
Jax pulled out the fossil and Arlo and Daisy were impressed.
“That’s a sick fossil man!” Arlo said.
“That is quite a cool fossil…” Daisy said as she was trying to think of something.
“Yeah it’s pretty cool and in great shape too” Jax said with a smirk on his face.
The thought came back to Daisy and an idea came to her mind “Hey I wanna check something” Daisy pulled out her Pokédex and scanned the fossil, confirming her suspicion “I thought as much, Jax you just got your second Pokémon!”
“Huh!” Jax said in disbelief.
“Wait, that’s a fossil Pokémon!” Arlo said in shock.
“Yep, and not far from here there is a place that can restore fossils into Pokémon” Daisy said.
“Sweet, I say tomorrow while Arlo is challenging the Gym leader me and you go get my new Pokémon in fighting form. Sounds good?” Jax said.
“Yep, sounds good!” Daisy said.
“You sure, you’ll be missing a great performance by yours truly!” Arlo said.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be rooting for you at the fossil place!” Jax said “Anyways I am off to bed, tomorrow is gonna be a long ass day.”
“Agreed, I’m gonna go brush my teeth ya’ll can come after me” Arlo said.
The three made their way to bed and passed out while trying to watch Mission Impossible, well except Arlo. Arlo used the time to play a bit of Final Fantasy VIII on his Steam Deck before calling it a night.
…
The three woke up to an alarm set for 9:30 am to make sure not to miss the complementary breakfast and loaded up on it before splitting up for the day. Arlo then took his bike and made his way to the first Pokémon Gym on his adventure.
