Chapter 1: New Beginnings
“Go get him Decidueye!” “Out, Serperior!”
Arlo was watching the Pokémon World Series Finals on his television. Every year the strongest trainers meet up and battle to see who the best Pokémon trainer in the world is. This year it was taking place in the Galar region and the last two trainers are the Champion of the Alola region and Shun Kashiwaga, the Champion of Turterra. Champion Kashiwaga is a rather tall man with short pitch black hair with brown eyes and fair skin, wears an elaborate royal outfit with purple and red with a long purple cape, and has a rather stern expression. The Pokémon he sent out, Serperior, is an elegant green serpent Pokémon with a white and green head and green accents along its body. On it’s neck there are two pointed extensions that seperate its white head from its green body, giving it an elegant look as if it is wearing a suit. The other Champion from the Alola region has short dark green hair with brown eyes and has tanned skin, wears an orange shirt and green tropical shorts, he also seems rather laid back compared to Champion Kashiwagi. The Pokémon he sent out is a tall owl-like Pokémon with white feathers for the body and brown feathers for the arms, but what really stands out is the head with a hood-like feather covering on its head obscuring a dark facial pattern. Turterra is Arlo’s region and he was excited to see his Champion in the finals. The two Champions were sending out their last Pokémon and both Champions were quite tense.
Serperior began with taunt, agitating the Decudieye and baiting it to attack. Decudieye followed up with Leaf Storm, only for it to miss and be countered by Serperior’s own Leaf Storm. This hit hard and Decudieye was down. Serperior came to continue the onslaught but Decudieye feigned the condition and hit Serperior hard with Shadow Ball. To add insult to injury Decudieye used Roost, restoring the precious HP that Serperior chopped down.
“Serperior, get up!” Yelled Champion Kashiwagi “You better not lose this!”
Serperior obeyed “Use Glare!” and with that he tried to hit Decudieye but missed. “Serperior, hit him with Leaf Blade!” But it was too late, Decudieye hit Serperior with Shadow Ball and knocked him out.
“And the winner is the Champion from Alola, Hau!”
Arlo was upset about the loss but that didn’t really matter to him that much, the battle was awesome either way. Both Pokémon trainers tried their very best, which is what Arlo loved to see in the battles. Arlo is a gray haired boy with short spiky hair and has blue eyes and light skin. Arlo typically wears a yellow hoodie with a zipper with a white shirt that has a black Nidoking on it, green cargo shorts, a gray backpack, and black running shoes. Arlo was excited because he just had his 18th birthday, this meant that he was an adult and can finally get his first Pokémon and go off on an adventure. Usually trainers can get their Pokémon at the age of 10, at least in other regions, but here only adults can become Pokémon Trainers. This is mostly due to parents actually caring a bit about raising their kids here. But the time has finally come for Arlo to receive his first Pokémon. With this in mind Arlo went to bed, thinking about what Pokémon he would choose. This year the Professor, Professor Pine had some special starters for the new trainers. He received some special and rare Pokémon eggs from Professor Elm from various different regions and was giving those out to the new trainers. Arlo wondered what some of them were, was it a Charmander, or a Turtwig, or maybe even a Totodile? Maybe it wasn’t even conventional starters, maybe it was a Pawmi or a Poocheyena or possibly a Magikarp! Man who would want a Magikarp as a starter, it may turn into a Gyrados but man it sucks as a Magikarp! Eventually Arlo overthought himself and passed out, dreaming about traveling the path along Victory Road.
Arlo was woken up by a loud banging at the door, it must have been Jax. Jax is Arlo’s best friend and has been for over a decade. Jax has brown hair with green eyes and has a bit darker skin than Arlo, but not by much. Jax usually wears a polo shirt with his favorite color purple, navy blue jeans, and black walking shoes. Jax has a twin sister named Daisy who is younger than Jax and a nice girl. Daisy has natural blonde hair and green eyes with fair skin, wears a white t-shirt with blue jeans and gray and blue running shoes. Arlo has a crush on her and tries to keep it from Jax but is not very good at hiding it. You can’t blame Arlo though as she is one of the best looking girls in town, is a kind soul with a great personality. Jax is a natural at most things, school, sports, competitive games, and Pokémon TCG. The only edge that Arlo has over Jax is that he has shredded Jax in achievement hunting and single player game completion, the only reason Jax was able to beat Halo 2 on legendary was because of the tricks Arlo taught to Jax. Despite Jax being a natural at most things he never let it get to his head, he always tried to help others get good at the game. Arlo was a bit jealous of Jax, being a natural at almost everything but was fine with it. Jax was cool and he was too, that’s what mattered in the friendship. Arlo woke up and got changed into some clothes and headed towards the door. It seemed that Arlo was alone at the house, no one answered the door. Arlo opened the door and saw Jax, irritated.
“Hey sleepyhead, you have any idea what time it is?”
Arlo, half asleep answered “No..?” with a slight slur in his voice “I don’t know, like noon or something? Like, uh… Pine said to be there by 2 or something so we’re probably fine.”
Jax let out a heavy sigh and shook his head “It is 2:10 in the afternoon Arlo.”
“Huh?” Arlo said in confusion.
“I said, it is 2:10 in the afternoon!” Jax said with some slight irritation in his voice.
“Alright I’ll just go get my… Wait hold on 2:10!” Arlo said in a panic.
“Yeah, 2:10 in the afternoon. My sister already got hers about an hour ago man” Jax glances at his watch “Make that 2:12, we gotta get moving asap!”
“Right behind ya!” Said Arlo as he rushed out the house nearly forgetting to close the door if not for Jax pointing it out.
Arlo and Jax hopped on their bikes and pedaled as fast as they could to make it to Professor Pine’s research lab. Arlo and Jax lived in the Town of Dogwood, a decently sized town bordering the closer and larger metropolis of Silverberry. People living in Dogwood either live here because Silverberry was too crazy for them or their family lived here for generations. Arlo is considered a newcomer to Dogwood, moving here from the city of Bergamot halfway across the region when he was 2. Jax is a native to Dogwood with his family living here for generations. While biking Arlo noticed a new restaurant place in town called Arrokuda’s Fish and Chips recommended by his math professor who came from Galar.
“Hey Jax, you wanna grab a bite after we get our new partners?”
“Maybe put your energy into biking rather than your next meal Arlo.”
“I mean I just woke up and all of this biking is building up an appetite, can’t blame me for wanting some food man”
“Fine we can get some, all of this talk of food is getting me hungry too man” Jax said with a smirk.
Arlo and Jax passed the school and most of the town and arrived at Professor Pine’s research facility.
“Oh man it’s already past 2:30” Jax said with stress.
The two friends busted through the lab door and made it into a pretty deserted lobby. Another trainer was exiting from the back and was on her way out and from the looks of it she just received a new Pokémon. She was on the phone talking to someone, most likely a friend.
“So yeah the Professor didn’t have many left, and I got a super cute white Litten!”
Arlo and Jax walked by her and let her comments brew in their heads.
“Hey Jax, isn’t a Litten normally black?”
“Yeah, she must have confused it with a Meowth.” Arlo said “But hey she said there are still some left so at least we’re not left out.”
“Yeah but for all I know it could just be the worst choices. I swear if there is only a Chikorita or that duck from Paldea then I am gonna lose it man.” Said Jax nearly about to lose his cool.
“I hope that doesn’t happen.”
The two went to the back of the building where Professor Pine told them to come. Outside in the back was a grand Pokémon sanctuary where all kinds of Pokémon can be found. Among the Pokémon a man in his late 40’s could be seen, this man had blonde hair, a blue polo shirt with a white lab coat, brown cargo shorts, and wore running shoes. He was restocking some of the food for the Pokémon when he noticed the two soon to be trainers.
“Ah, I expected you to come by 2 but it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are here now, I assume it is Arlo and Jax am I correct?” Said the professor with a smile.
“Yes, we’re here for the Pokémon.” Arlo said.
“No problem, follow me.” Said the professor and walked towards the lake in the center of the garden.
Professor Pine specializes in Pokémon variation, specifically in color variation. He was offered a position to work in Silverberry but turned it down, he preferred the country and the peacefulness that came with it.
The Professor pointed towards three Pokémon, a Snivy, a Mudkip, and a Fuecoco. Snivy is a green serpent Pokémon with legs and arms and has a white body with a green back going from its face to its tail. It also has yellow extensions on its neck as well as some yellow highlights on its eyes. Mudkip is a small amphibious Pokémon with a blue body and a light blue belly that extends to its jaw. It also has a two fins, one blue one on its head and one light blue one as a tail and also has two spiky orange cheeks. Fuecoco is a two legged crocodile like Pokémon with a red body with a while belly and a yellow patch between its belly and upper body. It also has a pitch white face and has two tufts on its head that emit a yellow hue. This is how these Pokémon normally look like but these ones are different as their color scheme is radically different from what they normally looked like. Rather than being their normal colors, Snivy has more of a dark green than a green, Mudkip is pink and yellow rather than blue and light blue, and Fuecoco is pink rather than red. “These are the Pokémon I can offer to you two. They are unique Pokémon, as you may have noticed the unique color scheme. You may choose only one, as I do not have many left to give out. I hope you make the right choice, as this will be your partner that will be by your side. You may take as long as you need to make the decision, I mean it is your first Pokémon after all!”
With that Arlo and Jax went to the three Pokémon, hoping to find their new partner. These Pokémon were happy to see the two of them and immediately ran to them for some attention. Arlo thought about what Pokémon to take as he wanted all three of them but then thought about the match last night and how Champion Kashiwagi used a Serperior. The elegance in that serpent Pokémon was something else, something he wants his new partner to achieve.
“Alright…” Said Arlo “Wanna come with me Snivy?
With that Snivy’s eyes grew with excitement and jumped onto Arlo’s arms. It was decided, Arlo would take Snivy.
“Well it seems I gotta choose now too, huh…” Jax said “Mudkip, how about it?”
“Kip kip!” said Mudkip with glee.
The two new trainers made their choices, Arlo would go with Snivy and Jax would go with Mudkip.
“Well it seems you both made your choices, come and I shall give you some Trainer essentials.” The two new Trainers went to the Professor with their new partners following behind. “So first off to make the transfer official here are their Pokéballs. If you ever want to change the ball they are stored in just go to a Pokémon center and they will do it for you. Here is also a Pokédex, it is the ultimate tool for trainers as it contains information on every Pokémon on the planet as well as the ability to record previous Pokémon encounter locations in case you want to keep track of it. Here are also some potions and more Pokéballs, I even included a few Great Balls and an Ultra Ball in case you need it.”
“Jee thanks Professor” said Arlo.
“Thank you very much Professor” said Jax.
“It is my pleasure, also another thing is through the PC at the Pokémon Center you are able to transfer Pokémon in and out. I should also mention that you can only have a party of 6 Pokémon in most official battles, if you catch more then I would recommend transferring them to me or leaving them at a daycare. I can watch them for you. Anyways I have probably talked your ears off, I wish you the best of luck on your journeys and I hope to see you again!”
And with that Arlo and Jax set off on their Pokémon journey, well not after a quick bite and whatnot. The duo have a life they need to set aside and parents that love them, first they would need to say their goodbyes before leaving.

come on, I’m retconning this pretty fast since it breaks the timeline you can’t choose the name of the champion (that’s @UnovanZorua job) plus the backstory was already written
And plus I already told you that I don’t do repeats

For anyone wondering if this is part of the original story let me clarify that it isn't, this is my own spin off of the series because I wanted to create a sort of definitive edition of what was written. This is not part of Classinga's current thing in any way and should be considered completely seperate.
