    Retcon

Retcon would be great, Reboot is most likely to happen. What do you think?

As far as we know, mainline Pokémon games exist in one continuity, some even overlapping or happening simultaneously. The red Gyarados being reported in gen 4 is one obvious example.

However the existence of multiple timelines, or even each individual playthrough being its own timeline, are implied by the events of the Delta Episode in ORAS, mentioning that the link cable connects to other universes.

And gen 7 confirmed the existence of alternate dimensions and timelines with Ultra Wormholes. You even go to one to catch another Cosmog.

Personally, I don't think Pokémon needs any kind of change to its lore or narrative. That isn't the series' problem. If they continued the series as is but addressed the quality and gameplay issues, there is no reason to change or remove anything about the past games or the lore.

But if Game Freak were dead set on doing one of the three, it depends how they are approaching it.

I think you need to clarify your terms. What do they mean to you? What's the difference? Without clarification, I can only answer based on my interpretation.

What are we retconning and to what scale? Did any of the past games happen? What would the retcon even achieve? What needs a retcon?

An alternate continuity sounds like the least disruptive approach, as it allows them to start with a clean slate, as with a reboot, without totally discarding everything that came before. They could even set future games in the original timeline, and have the two co-exist.

    Alternate Continuity

If I were to choose one: Alternate Continuity. It would be so cool to see mainstream stuff broken like a new type trio for starters or ultra beast like pokemon are the norm.

    Alternate Continuity

To be honest I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the question. I'm gonna choose to interpret it as, "what would you like to see in future games?" Personally I wouldn't mind at least a couple games exploring an alternate continuity, but I don't want to throw out what we already have...
