So this FAQ will answer a few questions niggling at people and discuss other points. This will not discuss bugs and the GUI mainly as bugs will be fixed and the GUI which has not been taken positively is a matter of opinion. For example, I actually prefer the reversed cards and after a while you forget about it and when you go back to PTCGO THAT looks weird. Also for this FAQ when I refer to season pass I am talking about the premium line of the season pass.

  1. Was saving up 125 packs worth it for the crystals? Absolutely! While you can certainly swap those crystals for packs in live you will only get around 66 packs for the max 12,400 crystals so like for like is certainly NOT recommended, however! you can right now trade 40 BS packs for 125 celebrations packs then when you transfer get 66 packs so it is pack dependent. But the real value in spending those is for the season pass. Just make sure you have at least 10 packs in your account to get 1,100 crystals to buy that first season pass. Doing this along with your dailies will more than net you enough crystals for your next season pass. Just always make sure to have at least 800 in your account. Think of crystals as the new coins (I know we have coins which makes it more confusing). I bought the premium season pass for 1,500 crystals and now have over 13,400 simply playing a few games daily and am lvl 43 on the season pass. It's worth noting 12400 nets you 15 premium season passes which gets you a LOT more than 125 packs.
  2. So I only need 10 packs for the transfer and not 125 to fully enjoy live? Essentially yes. By the time your first season pass is over you will have earned enough crystals to not only buy your next one but a few packs to boot. But this brings me sadly to point 3.
  3. If crystals are the new coins can we earn them just as easy? Sadly no, the points on this online are while blown out of proportion, are correct. While in the past by the time the new booster rolled around you could have save up enough coins for 100 packs day 1, now you will be lucky to save up 20 in my opinion via crystals. People think this could be changed however thanks to crafting it might not be as it's easier than ever to get that card you need for a deck. They may increase it a small amount but I do not expect any drastic changes. However..
  4. Are there any other ways we can earn crystals? Yes, I have not seen this anywhere but most non-booster code cards that give you a max of only 4 redeems such as the codes that come with 3 packs and ETBs actually give you crystals after you have redeemed 4 of them. This is again limited for another 4 times at 10 crystals per redemption.
  5. Okay so its more difficult to buy packs but is it easier to earn? Yes, through the premium season pass you do earn more over the same amount of time compared to the bi-weekly versus of PTCGO. AND you are guaranteed to get a lot of the latest booster where as that's not the case of PTCGO. However, if you won a lot of tournaments you will get less obviously so mileage may vary.


So look I'm sure somebody one day will do the maths on PTCGO vs live but right now I do not feel like I'm earning packs any slower than PTCGO but saying that come launch of Astral Radiance I am not going to be able to buy 50 packs day 1 like I used to be able to.
