TCGP Improvement Suggestions

I do love this game and think the way they’ve streamlined the TCG experience has made it way more intuitive to learn. That being said, I’ve had a few annoying experiences with the game and what I’ve listed below are some suggestions that seem like they could be updated pretty quickly to improve user experience:
- Turn Count in the Battle Log - This just seems like an oversight, to be honest I’m not sure why this isn’t already a thing. Being able to check the turn number in the battle logs would help a lot with those challenges where you need to win in a certain amount of turns. Currently the only way to check is to wait for the next turn message or count the turns in the Battle Log, it’s easy to lose track if you’re playing quickly or on the go.
- More Deck slots OR add a Temporary Deck slot - From a coding perspective, I can understand why this might be more difficult, and I do realise that the Deck slots have already been increased but you can’t experiment with more cards without getting rid of your favourite decks. Yes, you could just keep a slot for temporary decks but it’s such a pain to have to keep going in and out of menus and saving changes just to overwrite them again. My suggestion is to have a slot that you can create a brand new deck right before entering the battle. Simply choose the Temporary Deck slot, click Battle! and before taking you into the battle it will bring up the same screen that appears when clicking Edit in the usual deck - there will need to be an additional section for the energy as that’s usually on the previous screen when editing a deck. I still think you should be able to customise the Temporary Deck’s Accessories but that should be kept to the bit where you view the deck. Or instead of making that many changes, literally just choose the Temporary Deck and let it bring up the usual screen that would appear for other decks in My Decks, just accessible right before entering a battle. May be just a me thing but curious about if this is feasible from a coding perspective so let me know.
- Change the wording of this challenge criteria “Win this battle using a deck where all the Pokémon cards are of *, **, and/or *** rarity” - I’ve seen people talking about this before but it’s easily my biggest gripe with the game. From a battling perspective, it seems like the only goal of this challenge is to encourage the use of decks without ex cards, but if that’s the case, why go out of your way to word it like this? This stops the use of certain decks, where the player may not have collected the *, ** or *** alternative card, plus it gets rid of any decks that utilise promo cards. Certain promo cards with alternate attacks/abilities don’t have a *, ** or *** alternative, essentially limiting the ways you can approach a challenge. Please change this to “Win this battle with a deck that does not contain ex Pokémon”
- Do more Sneak Peek events - Self-explanatory but I have noticed that when the events are on you only get a certain number of Sneak Peeks before it stops doing it, think it ought to be unlimited when the event is on. I really like these events and it makes Wonder Picks a lot more interesting, it still doesn’t guarantee you get the one you want but it’s interesting enough to make you actually want to use wonder picks more. Would love it if Sneak Peeks were constantly available in Wonder Picks but that’s not a realistic expectation to have. Alternatively, you could make an item for Sneak Peeks which could be a little magnifying glass icon and I reckon it would go nicely with the stopwatch for timed out Wonder Picks.
- Add energy symbols to the scroll bar - This one is minor compared to the others, I just think it would speed up navigating by a ton, the search filters have already been improved a lot but personally I still use the scroll bar as its way faster than filtering by energy each time. Other than this, a lot of the search suggestions I had were already added in but I still have a few little additions that I think would help when building decks such as:
- Filtering by energy required to attack (Number and Type)
- Filtering by Retreat Cost
- Filtering by Weakness
If these things were added/changed, the game would be perfect in my perspective. Any thoughts I have surrounding the gatcha system are separate to the functionality but to be honest I prefer my chances with a set probability rather than the real world equivalent (even if the physical TCG cards are amazing). Please respond to this with other suggestions or feedback on mine. I’m really interested to know the community’s thoughts as I haven’t been an active presence on the forums for long.
