I can easily afford it, but while there are a fair few games I like getting enhanced versions or exclusives on the platform, it's not enough to make me rush out and buy it.

I set the rule many years ago that I wouldn't buy a new console until it had at least five games I really wanted to play. That way, I not only have games I actually want to play, but usually enough time has passed for a price cut or enhanced version to come out, and any manufacturing flaws or bugs will have been found and addressed.

Or it never gets to five and I can save my money.

I also have principled objections to the price increases. I think games are getting a little pricey for what they are, coupled with the cheek of charging online subscriptions, DLC and season passes on top of it.

I would hope that gamers would take a stance against it, but sadly I think they will continue the "just buy it", "just accept the ToS" attitude that got us here and made game ownership into glorified rentals in the first place.

But at least I can avoid contributing to the problem and save my money at least until the prices of the games I want drop after launch.

So in summary, no, I will not be rushing out to buy a Switch 2.

i hope they reduce the prices of the console and the game itself(assuming its kinda ex) because $90 for a game is crazy. I mean I get why its that expensive maybe the cost needed to make it or whatever but still… I hope the Lore is good

I can afford it but at the same time for a bit more I could get a steam deck which does more and plays pretty much every pc game and every game isn't 90$ USD on the steam deck.
This is the PS3 all over again.

    dont know

The switch two at that price range is in competition of my wallet with other handhelds that are at that same price range. I am absolutely going to wait for a price drop in a Wii-U/ 3DS situation.

If it stays at the current price absolutely not. 700 dollars is not worth it, plus 90 dollar games. I think they will drop the prices for multiple reasons, including marketing strategy, where they have a really big price drop and then everyone rushes to buy it cuz its so low, and the fact that they wont make many sales at this price. If they dont drop the price, I am just going to finally buy a switch and be happy with that.

But I will be waiting a while. Probably won't try until there's some switch two only game I want to play.

While I would prefer it be $400 and $450 for the bundle, $450 and $500 isn't a deal breaker since the upcoming PS6 is likely going for $700, if not more. What has people up in arms is what they're charging for accessories(notably controllers) because if I want to enjoy some in-house Multiplayer, I'm looking at $1k when I include additional games. Even the price for games isn't an issue for me because if you take what Nintendo charged for games back in the day and adjusted for inflation, you'd actually come to find that what they're now charging is basically what they were charging years ago. What's "shocking" isn't the price, it's how much our currency has been devalued in that time. Yet, I'm not here to debate Economics but merely to say you can't outright annihilate Nintendo for their price structure. Do I feel their game prices should be way lower(ignoring inflation) after say 2-3 years on the market? Heck yes but I'm not in charge of Nintendo.

As for actually getting the Switch 2, I do intend to do so but not right at launch(thinking for Xmas) since it'll be the first Nintendo system in over 25 years(roughly 27 ever since we got the N64 back in 98). Meaning I never got a Gamecube, Wii or the first Switch so I got a lot of Nintendo games to catch up on.
