I'm going to choose Chikorita, Chikorita is a very special Pokémon to me, and also, she's like a best Pokémon friend to me, and and Chikorita has always been an important Pokémon for me, in the Johto Pokémon games I always chose her, and Chikorita was also special in the Pokémon anime, Ash's Chikorita that evolved into Bayleaf, very special, besides Meganium illumina in New Pokémon Snap, which is simply very special, that's it, I love Chikorita

I still haven't decided. I'm waiting until we see whatever new forms or megas they get.

Choice right now is Totodile but two things can change that. Firstly, the typing of Meganium, Feraligatr and Emboar respectively. If one simply has a really good typing, that might sway me. The other will be what Pokémon are in the Pokédex. Like if the selection of Fire types is quite poor(looking at you Diamond and Pearl), then that may sway me to roll Tepig for a starter or simply not have a Fire Type on my team. Oh and I'll add one more thing: Major Trainers(ex: Gym Leaders) and what typings they tend to possess. Kalos in XY was rather rough on Chespin with Bug, Rock(Refrigerate Amaura + Dragon Tyrunt), Fighting(Hawlucha is no joke) and Grass(Flying Jumpluff or Poison Weepinbell anyone?) to open. Later gyms were also rough on its Fighting side(Fairy + Psychic) and Wulfric was Ice. If its anything like that, Chikorita might struggle unless it gets a strong typing.
