Legends Z-A's Battle System?

It's the beginning where Pokemon Battles are more action based than turn based. I'm more than excited about it.

Feels a bit difficult if this is meant to be your first-ever exposure to real-time combat (in general, not just for Pokemon games), but if you've got an action RPG with real-time combat (like Xenoblade or Genshin, to name just two), then you could use that for practice.

I hate it, honestly. I liked turn-based battles A LOT, they gave me time to think and weren't too stressful. They were relaxing, let you think, and didn't rush you to finish them, which made them fun.
Real-time battles look like they're going to be headache inducing. It makes me feel like I don't want to buy the game, because I like being able to take my time when battling. Making battles real-time will make them exhausting and annoying.
But I know it'll make loads of money from people just seeing a "modern" sounding gimmick like "open world" or "real-time battles" and instantly assuming that automatically means "good" and buying it, just like SV did. And I'm probably going to still buy it and finish it too.
I hope the story is good at least, because if it's disappointing it'll probably become one of my least favourite Pokémon games.

Yeah, I have final fantasy 13 for PS3 which I've been meaning to play through and that has a similar type of battle system.

If it anything's to you, I think we should be back to normal battles in Gen 10 which might come out next year for 30th anniversary as the legends games do seems to be Pokémon's way of experimenting with new way to fight (Agile and Strong style and the way you could increase the amount of your turns was PLA's experiment but was then gone in Gen 9).
