Is there country-based events in pokemon games?

Where I live, we don't really have any. But do any of the places you guys live have country-based events? I also, is there a shiny manaphy and enamorous event coming? Or is it only NOT in north america

I remember in France there was a shiny zarude event or something for Sword and Shield and i had to register on a french website or something. I think i got a scarf zarude and an ash ketchum hat from it. In canada and the us we also occasionally get codes for special pokemon from gamestop, i know back in the sun and moon days they really went to town with it giving away a ton of legendaries.
