The trading conversion rate makes no sense

Why does trading a card require that you destroy 4-5 of a card of the same rarity, for a system that requires you to THEN still have the card available to trade to someone? Why do cards at 2-star rarity and above, which are orders of magnitude rarer than 4-diamond pulls, not award enough currency to make even one single 4-diamond trade?
