Trading with friends only with so many restrictions is terrible

I fully expected the trading to be time-restricted by items, but it is so much worse. Having to consume cards in order to trade each time feels predatory. However, the worst offender is having to trade with only friends AND without being able to communicate in-game. As a Pokémon player for 20+ years, I fully expected trading along the lines of GTS in older mainlane games or HOME. But having to have friends in game and having to communicate with them through other platforms made the trading completely useless. I honestly have no idea how I'm expected to trade for even a single card I want/need. There are way too many hoops people have to go through to be able to trade, making zhe functionality essentially useless
