You might want to take a look at some of the discussions on the Unite Forum and check out what people are saying there. A lot of people really hate what Pokemon has done to the game, and I agree with them. It can be fun at times if you're only playing casually, but even then it's difficult to get what you want without spending an insane amount of money.

Biggest complaints from players
- Match making system is horrible. It's basically set up for pros to carry new and unskilled players to masters rank but defeats the purpose of "ranked" matches.
- Pay to win. When they release new pokemon they make them OP and basically easy wins so people pay to get them. Then shortly after most players pay to get them they nerf them and release them for free or coins.
- Voice chat can be banned for anything. And I mean ANYTHING! if someone reports you doesn't matter whatever you said, it could be even nice... if the report got sent it auto bann. Basically don't use Voice chat in the game.
- Devs have not implemented 1 request by the okayers. They are making a quick money grab now off the Pokémon name. But the game is dying and soon will be dead with the poor management.

Just play casually and don't spend money on this hot garbage, and you probably gonna have fun
