TCGO is more fun because it gives you junk decks
So I don't know if this is a beta thing, but everyone getting meta defining VMax and VStar decks for free is pretty much ruining any casual enjoyment of this game. Two of my kids decided to spend all their starting money on Blastoise V and V Max because he's so cool. In TCGO I could have made a deck that worked well enough against a majority of free-to-play players without being competatively viable, leading to games that the kids wanted to play and their opponents didn't immediately concede. On Live, it's difficult to even complete a daily quest of "Use an attack that costs at least 3 energy" because the decks they want to play are either entirely crushed or the player base is so used to a two-turn game that they resign when their starting hand is garbage.
What's more so, what is the point of putting an online code for "Pokemon Battle Academy" saying "You can play these decks online!" when any kid attempting to do so will be crushed into powder repeatedly by everyone for ever daring to use the garbage decks their parents bought them for Christmas?
TGCO didn't have this problem. People on that were there to play the game and even though they'd run into meta defining decks from time to time, the majority of people were just making their own decks with cards they had access to because they liked them and wanted to play them. There is nothing in Live that encourages players to do that but plenty that punishes them for it. This whole game has turned into nothing but a "Lugia Vstar variation vs Lugia Vstar or counter deck" simulation where people can practice for tournament play. If you the Pokemon company wants it to be that, fine, but I figured baby's first RPG card simulator would be more friendly to casual players.
