Just out of interest, what do people think of the Galar starters?

I heard some people saying that they don't like the Galar starters, so I was wondering what people think.

I really don't like them. I think they are the worst starters. The only one I have any positive feelings towards is Scorbunny, and those end the second it evolves.

if I'm being honest they are probably the most mid starter trio out there they are okay and often forgettable when I first played shield I boxed my starter halfway through the gym challenge since it just wasn't doing that well.

I don’t hate them, but weren’t that bad either. Though in one sense that’s a big failure since starters tend to be the best Pokémon in general. I do think that they all had really good starting forms tho.

They are good starters but definitely weaker starters compared to the other generations.

Sobble is cute and I think Raboot is cool, but other than that I think they're pretty boring.

Unqualified to really comment given that I haven't played Sword/Shield but to argue that the Starters are bad has to take into account the Regional Gyms/Elite 4, their movepools and more importantly, other Pokémon, including those of the same Type, that can do the job just as well or better. Whether that applies to Gen 8 I'm not entirely sure, but I can say with relative certainty that Gen 1 certainly falls into that category. They've gotten big buffs since Red/Blue days, starting with Yellow version giving Charizard the ability to use Fly to give it an actual Flying Type move but Kanto starters in Red/Blue simply are bad. I don't think the Galar trio surpasses the original trio in terms of being replaceable on a given playthrough.
