Going second
Going second gives player too much advantage.

Yeah, out of all TCGs pokemon seems to have the most balanced between going second and first. (Not saying they're equal, but compared to magic and yugioh they're a LOT closer). So I don't understand why it was changed.
Not being able to at least attach an energy going first is such a huge disadvantage. I despise going first for that reason alone.

Not really, that totally depends on the deck and also the meta...

Might be wrong, I read somewhere going first you could evolve your pokemon. I do not know if it's in live or pocket.

Every deck is different in whether it likes going first or second, Pidgizard likes going first due to it's use of rare candies letting it evolve much faster.
The paper tcg allows you to pick if you win the coin flip
You're misinterpreting what you read, neither player can evolve a pokemon on it's first turn in play, but players going first can evolve their pokemon one turn faster than the turn two player.

I really don't care if I go first or second, they both have their own advantages and disadvantages
