i feel like there are a lot of frustrating posts if you look anywhere other than pokemon general, let me count the ways

mobile games and apps posters when all the mobile games are shut down

news and articles posters asking for the edit button to be back with no response

scarlet violet posters when the game has bugs

anime forums posters explaining how ash has to come back to the show

unite forums posters complaining that they cant ban people for being bad at the game

average tcg live poster can't read cards and thinks the game always makes them lose

play! pokemon and tcg forum posters are too busy playing the game in real life

@Flametix A problem with media fanbases and communities in general is that they don't have a lot to say when they are happy. The majority of people who are happy with the current state of a franchise are content to quietly enjoy it with little to no online interaction.

Only when there is a problem or they are unhappy or angry about something do most seek out avenues to complain. Reddit threads, Tweets, YouTube videos and, yes, official forums are dominated by people voicing their complaints, with everything from reasonable critiques to deranged, nigh-unintelligible screeching. Sadly people politely doing the former often get lumped in with the rabid mob doing the latter, but that is another matter.

This all leads to discourse being dominated by expressions of grievance and makes online communities generally very negative. This leads to aphorisms like "no one hates X more than X fans" being thrown around.

I think a lot of new and temporary users are here because they want to voice a complaint. They come here because they have a problem with something, they find the forum for the relevant media (or just pick a forum at random, apparently), post their complaint and then argue with regular users or leave when they feel their gripe has been sufficiently addressed or something else catches their attention.

The general has enough core users and conversation to drown out the grumbling. Other forums do not.

The News forum does not generate much relevant discussion, but is the closest we have to a forum for meta discussions about the website and forum itself, so that content is posted there.

I do not think the English forum for a Japanese game franchise receives a lot of attention or investment from its parent company. Functionally this might as well be a second or third party site at this point.

So development of the site is infrequent and slow, and our feedback is unlikely to reach the ears of the creators in Japan. That is my perception, anyway. I can only speculate without greater insight behind the scenes of this website and its management.

I forgot. I usually avoid things about the TCG, the anime section, and posts about Pokémon GO. It's still a lot better than other places though.
