Legacy Energy not working?

I have lost three games because of legacy energy non working.

    It is working... if the Pokémon Legacy Energy is attached to is Knocked Out by damage from an attack from your opponent's Pokémon, that player takes 1 fewer Prize card. This effect of your Legacy Energy can't be applied more than once per game.

    This means, if this Pokemon is KO by placing damage counters, or poison, or burn, or effects like Frenzied Gouging (Roaring Moon ex), etc. the 1 fewer prize effect of the Legacy Energy is nullifed... in this type of scenario your opponent will take the normal number of prize cards.
