Cynthia's Ambition sometimes does not draw 8 card instead of 5 when one of my pokemon have been KO'd during the last turn of my opponent.

Was your Pokemon knocked out in between turns, by something like Poison or damage from Froslass? If you are KOed between turns, then you just draw 5 cards.
