Eh. I don't care what other people think. Char will always hold a place in my heart. He's been my favorite since I was 7 or 8. Around a decade later I still love him. It's not because everyone else does. It's not because GameFreak give everything and more. It's because I see Char as a loyal companion will push himself beyond what is physically capable to secure the win for us. He always stands by my side, even in the worst of times. Always the first one to step in if someone just looks at me the wrong way. Plus, he is pretty cool! Tall, strong, intimidating. Dragon like design. Possible moves that give him advantage in almost any type match up. So while yes those things are GameFreak over loving it, my reasoning goes deeper than just "cool dragon with strong attacks." Char has his place in my heart that can't be taken.

The wise quote of the day is:
"I don't think you get to know what AI is and also see a donkey jump off a high dive. I think it was one or the other, and I saw the donkey, so I'm out."
-Nate Bargatze
I'm just curious, which one would you have chosen?

I would want to fully understand AI. It's better to know what we're all dealing with, the why's how's and whatnots (etc.), then to use it blindly with who know what potential ramifications or consequences.
-
Hades0918
That's a very good point... I, too, want to get to know them because then I'll know everything about them when they become my enemy in the take over!

Unfortunately living in a developed world means having to deal with AI. If I understand it, I'd know how to avoid it and how to deal with it. @Hades0918 I do realise that's a joke, but be careful about thinking of AI as having traits living beings have. It's incapable of feelings or thought, not having the things that make people experience them. It's a computer made to compile the words humans speak and calculate what the response to a question usually is using those compilations (which are almost always gathered without the agreement of the people the info is gathered from, and always always in the case of the ones that "work well" or are popular (because "good results" come from large amounts of inputted info, which is too difficult to get with the consent of the writers and/or artists for the big companies who want things as fast and cheap as possible)). I can't gather info on why this is bad because I'm writing this during a short break from studying, but I think personifying a calculator built with methods that harm humans isn't really a great idea.
-
Hades0918
Okay, UZ, I get what you're saying. AI doesn't have thoughts. It doesn't have opinions. It only imitates what human beings produce, often inaccurate because of wrong info. It doesn't get this information, right or wrong, with the creator's permission, either. However, scientists are attempting to make an AI that can function on its own, without human input. It is to imitate human thought, being independent and learning and thinking completely by itself. There is a word for it, but I can't remember it. It was said as a joke, but I believe the apocalypse will happen, but I don't know how soon it will be.
-
UnovanZorua
The important word here is imitate. AI may be able to process what the next decision or step should be, but these don't come from a mind. They come from a computer gathering the info from the data it's been given and that it is receiving, but it can't feel anything, only replicate the appearance of feelings as shown by its data. It can't think, only create the appearance of thinking as shown by its data. It doesn't have a brain and all the brain-related things that make living beings experience emotion, pain, thought, reason, and have meaningful experiences in general. It's like a gimmicky calculator, not a living being. What constitutes sentience, especially in relation to AI, is a controversial topic with no definitive answer or conclusion, but I'd argue AI can't achieve it and can only regurgitate what its data and input tell it to, completely incapable of coming up with unique ideas and concepts like humans typically do. And while an apocalypse is theoretically possible, I don't think it'll happen, at least not from AI mimicing sentience. If it's anything of that sort, the resources AI development can't get there without wasting will get to us first. I'm somewhat of an optimist, so I think humanity will eventually figure this out. We've survived bigger threats.

The word of the week is one I genuinely think everyone should know
Overmorrow
It is the term for the day after tomorrow!
I've always just said "it's the day after tomorrow" or "tomorrow's tomorrow"
But now I can properly refer to the day I'm talking about!
Hope you learned something new and see you next week!
025 May-
clasingla
Once it gets past tommorow I usually start saying “next ______” and if it’s farther from a week I just say the date
-
Dragonfly102024
I like it! I'm going to use it, yes, definitely use it, maybe not tomorrow, probably more likely overmorrow. 😁 (Hmm why does it sound like something a hobbit would say?)
-
PokeMom244
Overmorrow…. Never heard of that.
I usually say the day after tomorrow but this is shorter so I'll use it.

My brain isn't working right now. I'm too stuffed on homemade burritos. Food coma commencing in 3... 2..... WAIT! That's a really cool quote. But I need to think about it for some strange reason, and I honestly feel like my brain is in lalaland at the moment.

Dragonfly102024
Lol! Tell your cousin, I'm definitely adding this to my internal "list" of sayings that I like to repeat/use. 😁👍

Summer classes. Have to do them for my Associates... Luckily I only have to do one class this summer!
-
UnovanZorua
Because then it's all in spring, unless the people count the end of May as summer. Which might happen.

Im not sure this si very smart but I have a box of Tic Tacs and they go of on my bday so I am going to eat the last one on that day
023 May-
Dragonfly102024
When I was in Highschool, my friends and I would offer each other gum after lunch... Junior year I had braces so I could no longer chew gum. After that I always carried a pack of mint or peppermint TicTacs in my backpack. (They sold them in the vending machines in the cafeteria.) Mmmmmm fresh breath!

(I like this one, @Hades0918! Was it the original Harry Potter?). Reminds me of what I've said before elsewhere.... a rose is a light in the dark, warming the cold & down while bringing hope & happiness to the one that holds it....

Just because Charizard isn't a dragon type doesn't mean it still can't be a dragon, Charizard IS a dragon and I won't ever believe it isn't 😀

I appreciate the positivity, but I'm fine! What made you think otherwise? (Also, I could tell you were there. After you came online I got a jump in reacts!)

Am I doing alright? If I say anything I shouldn't be able to just tell me.
