1 Player: Player can switch between Sonic and partner, when not being controlled by player partner is AI controlled. 2 Players: P1 is Sonic, P2 is partner.
HQ: HQ gets brighter and more filled up with characters as Story Mode goes. It has the Skill Tree machine, which is how you upgrade, the HvH Arena, Endless Wave and Boss Rush warp rings, and of course the main Story Mode Warp Ring. Characters might be found alone here and will talk to Sonic or talking to each other- what they talk about depends on progression in the Story and their relationship with each other- Tails might act calm around Knuckles, but becomes a total mess around Cosmo. Rouge threatens to pickpocket people. Rookie talks via gestures that Silver can’t understand at all. And Events happen here too, in one corner. The hub of the whole game.Story Mode: Sonic’s friends disappear, and Sonic goes to find them and comes across Neo Metal Sonic. Sonic fights Metal and loses, and Neo sends him flying all the way into an abandoned Resistance shuttle. Sonic wanders around the shuttle and accidentally (sat on it) turns on a device that creates a Warp Ring. The shuttle is HQ for everything, and that Warp Ring is to choose Story Mode. The Skill Tree machine is also unlockable from the start by turning it on, but HvH and Endless Wave wait until you’ve unlocked at least one partner, and Boss Rush waits until you’ve beaten the game. Sonic travels to Green Hill Zone first, and Green Hill mostly acts as a tutorial, teaching you Sonic’s moves and capabilities. Once Sonic reaches the checkpoint of Green Hill, Steel Tornado appears as a boss. Beat Steel Tornado and it turns out to be a robotized Tails, and Sonic turns him back to normal. Then it is allowed to travel to new zones, three containing Iron Fist, Bronze Hammer, and Gold Bat respectively. Others contain minibosses to battle and gain CP, or find Zone Secrets and Chaos Emerald Shrines. Occasionally, Neo will send a Super Badnik Boss after Sonic, forcing Sonic and his partner into a boss battle. Once Sonic has completed every zone, he can move on to the final zone, Egg Base Alpha. Egg Base Alpha contains all the Super Badniks to fight, and once you reach the end, the final boss is Neo with the Master Emerald, and he becomes Master Overlord, and he copies attacks you use on him occasionally throughout the battle. Once you defeat him, he reverts to normal Metal Sonic, but then Eggman drains all the data from him, revealing that it was his plan to copy all of Sonic and his friend’s capabilities, as to fight fire with fire. He creates a giant mech and weaker copies of Steel Tornado, Iron Fist, Bronze Hammer, Gold Bat, and once you reach his mech itself, he instead reveals his final creation is done and fires out a new creation- Silver Sonic. Silver Sonic has all of Sonic’s moves, making for a hard boss fight, but once Silver Sonic is destroyed, Eggman’s mech attacks. During the final battle with Eggman’s mech holding the button that normally changes which character the player is controlling will let you switch your partner out, meaning a constant switching-out your ally. If there’s two players, the ally can be chosen by either P1 or P2 (this ONLY works in the final battle- in all other cases, the partner is chosen before entering a zone and is set). After Eggman is defeated, Sonic and every partner you’ve found (even non story mode ones) celebrate about the victory. And after credits, a cutscene of Tails reprogramming Metal Sonic is played, making Metal Sonic playable. Endless Wave: Sonic and AI or P2 Partner face waves of badniks that keep coming and getting harder as they go until anywhere past 999, where they stay the same afterward. Rewards: CP (more every wave), 250 Waves- Silver. 500- Blaze. 999- Super Silver and Burning Blaze, 1000000 CP.
HvH: Hedgehog vs Hedgehog. One Sonic is red and the other is purple, and they fight it out. The modes are Solo Local (give a controller to a friend, Sonic vs Sonic), Solo Online (fight someone online, Sonic vs Sonic), Duo Local (four people required, Sonic + Partner vs Sonic + Partner), Duo Online (give a controller to a friend, fight other people online, Sonic + Partner vs Sonic + Partner).
Boss Rush: Fight every boss in the game in succession (excluding Metarex). The longer you keep going, the more CP you earn. Beat it, unlock Neo Metal Sonic for Metal Sonic.Transformations: A transformation move is a move that changes the character’s form. Transformations and their requirements:
Super Sonic: have all seven Chaos Emeralds, 500000 CP, jump midair
