Pokemon champions hype. Future of vgc.

I seen a few conversations about pokemon champions and it really got my hyped for it as a competitive player.

I can see pokemon champions with it being compatible with mobile and home lasting alongside many future gens all you just have to do is update the game to have the latest pokemon (similar to how pokemon go does it) and not being a standalone gen game similar to pokemon stadium/revolution (where a new gen would come out and now this game will be useless).

Also with a split between casual and competitive fans each side will most likely see more creativity and won’t have to worry about one side hindering the experience of the other.

Such as the mainline games having more creativity with the story, and gameplay overall. And champions can be more creative, receive more updates possibly mid season patches buff/nerfing or evening banning broken mons (competitive wise.) but also have a casual friendly mode like PVC or free mode PVP.

Some people are nervous about how many Pokemon will be in the game but if not mistaken it will start off with a certain amount than gradually overtime add mons into the game until we are pretty much caught up.

These are some of the things I thought about pokemon champions, most are definitely speculation but I’ll like to hear all of you all’s thoughts/opinions on how this game might turn out to be.

Well, setting aside that fan projects already do what Champions advertises itself as, I remain skeptical. First off, I don't anticipate it will have every Pokemon available for a long time. Pokemon GO still provides a slow drip fed approach to adding Pokemon for the sake of content updates. This will likely be the same here.

And since this is a free-to-play game, so the monetization will be absolutely predatory if The Pokemon Company's previous mobile output is any indication. Battle passes, overpriced cosmetic items, stamina meters, loot boxes you can get speed up items for, multiple currencies, special events to induce FOMO. All of those are scummy tactics Pokemon has done before in other free-to-play games and I would not be surprised if they do them here. Simply put, I don't trust The Pokemon Company to have decent monetization.

Granted, if they add other types of battles like Triple, Rotation, Inverse, Multi, etc. and if they have a single player campaign (possibly designed like the Battle Frontier from older titles) I would be more interested. But this is The Pokemon Company, so that's a very big IF.
