Does anyone know why Pokemon ships are called [insert word]shipping, like AmourShipping or ContestShipping, instead of combining the characters' names, like most shipping names are?

I believe it is quite common to reference some quality shared by both characters, the nature of their hypothetical relationship, or some event or circumstances that occured between them, speaking very broadly.

But these are generally the types of conversations I avoid, so I endeavour not to be an expert on the subject.

I think it started with "Rocketshipping," which was probably a pun, but I'm not sure.

I'm not an expert on the subject but rather than use their actual names, they opt for nicknames or aliases that best describe the pair in question. Shipping is basically short for relation**ship** so it's kind of a slang way of saying it. The first two to really become a thing in Pokémon was RocketShipping(aka Jesse&James) due in large part to their eventual relationship becoming canon in the manga with Rocket being short for Team Rocket. The other being Ash&Misty and the inevitable pairing of Ash with every female protagonist through the Seasons. Why they named it Pokeshipping I honestly do not know(maybe it was the first Pokémon ship?) but Misty was pushed due in part to Misty liking Red in the Manga and the not-so-subtle push by 4Kids in the English Dub(was not as obvious in the Japanese dub, if at all).
