if a pokemon is immune to the damage type of a move is it immune to the status effects of that move

example. discharge against a ground pokemon, they are immune to electricc damage of discharge but dose it have immunitie to the paralisyse that may occur? alsoe and can a pokemon that has levitate ability also have immunity to any statuses or flinching that may occur from a ground move.

i think the levitate the move just misses but im super not sure on both of these and wanna do some crazy ground electric shinanigans and cant find the answer anywhere

    I think it could still leave a status effect. I'm not sure though

    there are other ways to add a status beyond the status's type move

    another case is an electric type being terastillizationed to steel. in this case you can then use thunder wave

    If a Pokémon is immune to the damage from an attack, it's immune to all effects of the same attack, but in your example, while Ground Types are immune to Electric, they can be paralyzed.

    If it doesn't hit them, then it's not going to afflict them with a status condition (so, for example, if a Pokémon that's ghost type gets hit with headbutt, there is a zero chance for the ghost type to flinch because normal type moves don't hit ghost types. The same thing happens when a move misses. If you miss flamethrower, the opposing Pokémon has a 0% chance to get burnt because the move didn't even hit it.)
