To be honest, I love Ho-oh and Lugia, Darkrai and Cresselia, Mew and Mewtwo, Reshiram and Zekrom, Glastrier and Spectrier and Koraidon and Miraidon

Solgaleo and Lunala. I always call them Nebby because of SM's story.

Ho-oh and Lugia are pretty great. I particularly like Lugia's design.

Groudon and Kyogre I am not too keen on, though it is primarily because of their association with RSE's story.

Dialga and Palkia are okay. I prefer Dialga's design. Darkrai is really good, but I do not particularly care for Cresselia.

Reshiram and Zekrom have fantastic designs, but other than their contrasting colour scheme, I do not see how they play into the "truth vs ideals" concept. It is not clear which is even supposed to represent which, and neither is strongly shown supporting either ideology.

Xerneas and Yveltal look striking, and at least Yveltal makes sense as the power source for a mega-weapon. Xerneas not so much.

Solgaleo and Lunala are alright. I think lunala is the better looking of the two.

The two dogs in Sword and Shield are so forgettable. I cannot remember their names. Might as well be pallette swaps.

Koraidon and Miraidon look goofy. Miraidon's wheels at least are functional and make sense, and the robotic design works well with the future theme, but Koraidon makes no sense to me. If it represents prehistory, why does it have wheels? Worse, they are vestigial wheels. It shouldn't have wheels, or anything that looks like wheels.

It would work better if it emphasised the animal mount aspect, before human technology. A motorcycle with legs reads the same logically as a screen door on a submarine. I hate this thing. And it steals your sandwiches.

Hard to argue against Mewtwo and Mew or the two that started it all. Despite the Psychic type taking a massive nerf from its Gen 1 glory days, Mewtwo still has that iconic stature as the first major Legendary. Mew is still the hard as bleep to obtain Pokémon but at least for those who have Let's GO Pikachu/Eevee and Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl can now obtain it without having to buy the darn Poke Ball+ attachment that when introduced with Let's GO Pikachu/Eevee was a blatant cash grab. The three Legendary Birds are still solid Legendary Pokémon but only Zapdos has been able to hold its mystique via its strong competitive play. Moltres was hot garbage in Gen 1 and honestly its still hot garbage. As for Articuno, as an Ice type, you either love it or hate it. Gen 9 did help it a lot though thanks to the Hail → Snow change.

I don't tend to consider Mew and Mewtwo a duo. To my mind that conveys equivalent power, and Mewtwo is much stronger than Mew. They have more of a parent-child relationship in my mind.

I wouldn't use the word "mystique" in this context. Prestige might be a better word. But Zapdos has obvious advantages, being electric type, a stong type and key weakness of the other two members of the trio, while being immune to electric's main weakness itself.

I like Zapdos' design, but it is my least favourite of the trio.
