Correct amount of Basic Pokemon

I keep having to Mulligan. I currently have 18 total Pokemon in a 60 card build. 7 are basic. My last 3 games my opponents have had 1 basic along with 1 bench, and game 3 they had 2 on the bench. I had to mulligan all 3 times.

Whats the correct ratio of basics I should be running? Because I am tired of my opponent drawing cards and getting such an early game advantage that its basically impossible to recover.

It honestly depends on the deck, but most play around 10. Joltic and Tera Box usually play over 15 though.

I am not a typical deck builder, me and my friends build the most unorthodox decks. We use 25 pokémon, 25 energies, and 10 Trainers (on average, this is our base most of the time.) But maybe add one or two more basics, 7 is pretty small. But then again, I do build decks weirdly, so maybe don't listen to me : D

The more Basic Pokémon you add into your deck (but not too many), the less mulligans you will get.
