Red

Red's dedication to Pokémon training is really incredible, I thought. He stands on a mountain peak, training his Pokémon. It's also kind of interesting how he refuses to speak randomly. In Pokémon masters, he quite simply states "Words are not necessary."

Lance

Where's Green? He was champion before Red? Where's Hau? That was one of the few changes I liked to USUM's story. Why is Ash here?

I personally really like Lance. He has a cool design, an imposing and totally legitimate team and you actively see him in the world fighting Team Rocket.

Steven I found a little underwhelming, and it doesn't help that he was immediately replaced in Emerald.

Cynthia has a great team, but I always felt she was a little forced upon the player, constantly showing up throughout the story. She feels engineered to be a fan favourite.

Alder I actually kind of forgot about during BW. He was immediately overshadowed by N and the Team Plasma plotline, and even though technically you do have to beat him to end the game, I rarely bother in most playthroughs. However, he did grow on me during those later playthroughs.

Diantha is a literal who.

Leon I just found annoying. Lest you forget he was the champion.

Ash is a terrible Pokémon trainer. He took twenty years of losing constantly to win his first championship as a ten year old.

Uh, I don't know about Green, you'd have to enlighten me on who he is. And in USUM, Hah makes it at roughly the same time as you, so you battle for the spot. That's why "I am" is on there.

Ironically, for Lance I had to google 'who is the Johto champion".

Diantha is Kalos's champion. She is really forgettable, honestly. I don't blame you.

And Ash was a half-serious joke. I could actually give you a really long lecture on why Ash isn't actually a terrible trainer if you look at it my way, but I won't do that (unless you want to hear it).
