How is most damage dealt calculated?

When calculating the most damage dealt is it based on the total raw damage dealt to the opponent or the difference after accounting for the opponent's remaining HP?

    When calculating most damage dealt, the opponent's HP remaining is not a detractor; it's the raw damage (i.e., flip 5 heads with Celebi and it counts as 250 damage, even though no Pokémon in the game has that much HP)

    I appreciate the information. I guess it must be a bug because my damage dealt counter has not updated. Unless it's capped at 450?
