Which Starter are you picking for your first run in Legends Z-A?

I'm probably going to use Chikorita because the only reason Chickorita is called bad is because of Johto's gym line-up because when I fight Silver in heart gold I always have trouble with his Chickorita and it's evolutions because of how bulky it is normally and even when it can set up reflect.

Also Meganium might be Grass/Fairy.

Here are my final typing predictions for the three starters:

Meganium: Grass/Dragon

Feraligatr: Water/Psychic

Emboar: Fire/Poison

I wanted to give Meganium Grass/Dragon because that would compliment her bulk quite nicely. I do realize this would put the Fire type Emboar at a STAB disadvantage but that's where it's secondary Poison typing comes in to give it x2. Ice would deal x4 but unfortunately Emboar cannot learn Ice Punch(which Feraligatr can along with Ice Fang and other Ice moves…. so yeah… best starter?). To round out the typing, I gave Feraligatr Water/Psychic because Psychic Fangs exists and I'd love another Water/Psychic type with biting moves besides Bruxish. Whether they'll give Feraligatr Strong Jaw Hidden Ability as opposed to Sheer Force… who knows.

@Lonestar85 Anything is possible. For all we know they could start giving them alternative middle evolutions, too.

I think you are a little too focused on the meta design of Potential alternative forms, rather than considerations such as adhering to the region's aesthetics and inspiration. PLA's starters alternate forms were inspired by traditional Japanese culture, so it makes sense that they would try to appeal to French culture in Z-A.

Not that the meta applications of each typing do not factor into Game Freak's designs at all. I just think the theme is a greater factor.
