so far of the cards they revealed don’t look the strongest dialga ex has an attack that cost 4 energy and only does 100 damage compared to mewtwo having an attack of 150 for the same cost and ways to get energy fast through gardevoir to make up for the disadvantage of discarding 2 energy which unless they release somehow to accelerate metal energy in this next set and though palkia ex attack does 150 damage to active and 20 to all benched it comes at a cost of discarding 3 water energy’s and currently the way to accelerate water energies is misty which is definitely a pure luck based card and probably still is going to pair better with articuno ex and starmie ex give me your thoughts

lol I think you're missing a lot on your first thoughts…

Dialga ex first attack it's extremely strong, not only does 30 damage but also accelerates 2 metal energies to any benched Pokemon type… this means you can pair it with the existing Melmetal, a 2nd copy of Dialga ex, a Mew ex, a Pidgeot ex or a Wigglytuff ex to accelerate energies… this alone will make colorless attackers and metal based decks way more powerful. Not to mention Dialga ex it's a Basic so it will be significantly easy to put it in play… and of course the 2nd attack can take down most of Pokemon.

Palkia ex it's also a Basic so it will also be significantly easy to put in play, and with its 1st attack only requiring 1 energy this means it will work fantastically as a wall for water decks like Gyarados ex or even Blastoise ex, adding the possibility with a lucky Misty to be a finisher attacker.

So all that said, even with fire weakness Dialga ex will be for sure a top deck. Palkia ex will make water decks stronger (it's not as good as Dialga ex tho).
But don't forget that a lot of cards weren't releveled so this analysis is not taking in consideration the unknown cards, btw I'm also very curious about pairing Lucario in fighting decks and Cynthia looks so promising but depends how good are Garchomp or Togekiss.

Because thats what water decks needed, another reason to immediately forfeit the match before the end of turn 2. Cant wait to see a bunch of turn 2 palkias, articunos, and starmies.

I am surprised that we are going straight to gen 4. Given that the first two sets had a heavy gen 1 theme (mandatory to get casual millennial players invested) I expected set themes would progress through the generations and the next set would be gen 2.

However, gen 4 seems to have a degree of reverence within the fanbase, and even Game Freak themselves. I would even be inclined to say that gen 4 is Game Freak's second favourite gen internally, after gen 1, of course.

It seems weird to me, because I view that era as something of a low point in the franchise, but I suppose for an entire generation after the Hoenn babies it was their introduction to the series. That generation is prime nostalgia-bait age now, I suppose. Millennials are getting a bit long in the tooth...

Anyway, new content and decks to look forward to is nice. I wonder if Celebi will remain a boogeyman after its release, or it will be powercrept or countered by something new.

I am excited to see how the new decks ruin all my existing decks.

The card that sticks out to me is Manaphy.

Not only did water decks not need another turbo-energy card alongside Misty, but pay close attention to the fact that it doesn't have the stipulation of having to be a water Pokemon.

This means cards like Mew EX, Celebi EX, Dragonite, Mewtwo EX, Charizard EX, etc benefit from it too. There's also that new Yanmega EX.

My prediction is that Manaphy will shake up the meta all by itself and most of all, Dragonite will go from A-tier to S-tier, because this set also has lots of good stall options AND good electric & water type for its arsenal.
