You should actually have a semicolon instead of a comma in that sentence, or else you have a comma splice on your hands. (A comma splice is a grammatical error that occurs when a comma is used to join two independent clauses instead of a more appropriate punctuation mark.)

I write novels for fun so I kinda have to know about grammar and stuff… But sometimes it doesn't help me, like when I see a million grammar errors in a paragraph and just want to grab the person who wrote it and shake them wildly. Must learn to calm myself lol.
