What would the average amount of points could someone earn if they placed high at a local tournament that does play pokemon?

That depends on what tournament it is. The highest points gained from a league cup is fifty. A challenge is fifteen. A regionals is an instant invite to the world championships. Those are all only available if you get first. But what tournament are you talking about?

Well any of them but logically I'd be referring to local tournaments that do casual where no points are awarded and local that does award points. I plan to do casual local tournaments to test out a deck I have in mind once I build it and if it's good then I will go to locals where they do award points

So each place where tournaments are being held should have a league challenge once a month and a league cup once every three months. These days, not many places hold tournaments where it's not possible to get points, but if you're trying to get points, then why would you want to go to one of those anyway?

Because I have access local stores all the time and I want to just start out at local just to test out my strategies. I would only go to a regional until I am sure my strategy is gonna hold up that's why I want to do locals first. Think of it like a pool sometimes it can be freezing when someone goes it but their bodies eventually get used to it, its better to walk in the pool at first than doing a cannonball into it.
