Is my Magnezone good for the HGSS battle frontier

Pokemon:

I chose Magnezone for a good special attacker, a great buff for water types, and a wall for fire and steel types.

________________________________________

Moves:

Thunder | A powerful never miss stab move because of rain dance.

Flash Cannon | A 100% Accurate special steel move.

Hidden Power Ground | Hits steel types for super effective damage and Magnet pull makes them stay in.

Rain Dance | To make Thunder never miss and makes fire moves do less damage.

Ability:

Magnet Pull | Makes it easy to remove steel types since they don't have many weaknesses.

________________________________________

Item:

Damp Rock | To make Rain Dance last longer.

________________________________________

Nature:

Modest | The pokemon only uses special attacks and doesn't use physical attacks.

EV's:

Special Attack | 252 for Max Damage.

Special Defense | 4 because most good fire moves are special.

Speed | 252 so Magnezone can set up Rain Dance and won't immediately get killed by a fire type move.

Not bad at all and definitely very usable, if it were my Magnezone I would prefer to use Thunderbolt over Thunder, just given that you need to dedicate 2 move slots to be able to reliably use Thunder, whereas you could free up a move slot for Protect or another utility move.

In my experience in the battle facilities accuracy matters a lot, also keep in mind you might not always have the luxury of being able to set up Rain Dance for free.

Something else to consider is that Ground type is the biggest threat to Magnezone, not Fire, as he is x4 weak to it, which is why again, if it were my Magnezone, I would choose the move Magnet Rise over Rain Dance.

Based on your post though I believe you are running a rain team which probably consists of a Water type or two, with that in mind I don't think Rain Dance's effect of halving the power of Fire type moves is actually that valuable, if your Water Pokemon already resist them? What other Pokemon are you running?

My advice is that you only have 4 move slots per Pokemon and you should try to use them as efficiently as possible when taking on challenging content like this. If Rain Dance isn't a necessity and can be dropped, I think you should remove it, you would also get your item slot back and you could run Leftovers or better yet a Choice Scarf which would make up for some of that lost damage from not running Thunder.

I hope that helps and I look forward to hearing more about your Pokemon team! 😎

Magnezone can work well in the HGSS Battle Frontier due to its high Special Attack, great typing, and resistances. Use moves like Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon for STAB, with options like Hidden Power (Ice/Fire) or Substitute for coverage. Beware of its low Speed and 4x Ground weakness; pair it with a partner that handles Ground-types effectively, like Gyarados or Gliscor. With good team synergy, Magnezone can be a valuable asset!😉
