How can I use banned cards

Can I seriously not use any of the cards that I redeemed because they are banned by the expanded and standard rule sets? I just wanna battle my friends with the cards I redeemed!

Currently there isn't any card you have in-game that is banned, the cards either rotated out of Standard so you can't play with them in Standard format, or the cards aren't supported yet by the app in Expanded so those can't be played for now in Expanded format.

Also TCG Live only allows to play vs friends in the Standard format.

I don't believe that @DoubleCure is 100% correct. There are some cards, such as Scoop Up Net, which are banned within the Live Expanded beta format. (Live Expanded beta format is Sun & Moon on.)

Banned cards will only become playable in Live when (& if) they implement an Unlimited Format.

I will also mention again that the in-app Store should contain a notice/warning for products that include cards that have rotated.

@uncomonfossil The Expanded format as far as I'm aware doesn't have any card banned, if you played it in physical event/tournament you would be allowed to play all the cards from Expanded supported expansions.

In TCG Live since they haven't finnished the Expanded format yet, many cards have bugs and others aren't even supported. So I wouldn't consider those cards banned... the game "beta" Expanded is simply unfinished and broken... if they want to call it banned... fine, but we know the currently unplayable/unsupported cards would be playable if the format was finnish.

There is a relatively expansive banned card list:

You're usually on-point. I'm surprised you didn't know that Expanded had a banlist. You can't have a non-rotating format without a banlist. That just doesn't work.
