Even up the deck selection?

so after facing the 5th person in a row with the mewdevoir deck it popped into my head- what if they implement that you have to switch decks for each random battle? i won 2 and lost 3 so its not that they cant be beaten or whatever, i also have a full mewdevoir deck and could spam that over and over but its fun to use different decks and setups to make the game interesting… just an idea before we end up with 90% mewdevoir decks and the other 10% dark to combat them.. (yes these are exaggerations lol)

Let people play the deck they want to play.

Metas shift over time. One strategy is dominant for a while, then a counter strategy rises to prominence and makes the former deck untenable.

New sets are released, better strategies are developed, or if something is really a problem, cards get banned. On digital only platforms like pocket, the cards themselves can even be nerfed, which cannot really work for physical card games.

There is a new set coming soon. Then we will see how the landscape looks and whether cards need to be banned.

And once the strategies of the early days of a card game fade, power creeps upward and the design ethos changes, many find themselves nostalgic for the broken, popular decks of those bygone formats. Todays "OP, meta-sheep, broken BS" becomes the beloved deck of yesteryear, that only "real fans" remember.

Dark being a type without an EX makes sense to battle Mewdevoir. But what battles the dark deck?

fighting deck, dual marrowak and kobutops and primeape does well against dark.

It isn't an exaggeration lol. People have done stats and Pikachu Ex plus Mewdevoir covers over 80% of decks in matchmaking. It's a fully formed two-deck meta. Nothing else competes at the same winrates. Those cards are just the best, sadly. It isn't a balanced game yet. The new Tauros might help a bit in the coming drop.

I'd recommend getting a friend who plays to fight against, as matchmaking is going to be an unfathomably boring 80%+ Mewdevoir and Pikachu for even a few weeks into the new drop.

Link these stats. Because Articuno & Charizard are played just as much. The real spread is probably more like: 18% Pikachu - 17% Articuno - 16% Mewtwo - 14% Charizard - 15% Everything else. So Yeah, IT IS an exaggeration

That isn't even true. Charizard & Articuno are just as popular.
