I started playing PTCG couple a weeks ago and I find this game quite nice
Hello, I just wanted to share my experience as someone who hasn't played or collected PTCG since I was a kid.
I came up with the idea to get back into TCGs when I visited my local Games workshop and saw people play MTG.
I was looking for something new to spend some of my very limited free time on something that does not involve spending tons of hours in front of a computer, so I thought a TCG game with a physical and online component will be perfect. I tried MTG and Yugioh again and I just didn't have the time or energy to learn those games.
Then I gave PTCG Pocket a shot and I reminded myself how cool collecting PTCG cards used to be, and it seems like this aspect of the hobbie hasn't lost its charm. BUT I found the duels to be completely opposite to MTG and Yugioh by being way too simplistic. When I learned that PTCG Pocket doesn't follow the actual rules of the standard game, I tried live and it rekindled my desire to play the game for real.
I use PTCG live to practice and try decks when I have a chance and use the skills playing with others in person. I find that Pocket's is a little overhyped and I believe that other than a pretty looking app, it does not have much substance. Especially since I can use codes from the real cards I purchase.
I appreciate that making a game nowadays has more challenges than it used, but despite all of the PTCG Live's shortcomings, for people like me is probably one of the few good choices out there.

I personally find the Pokémon TCG a little too simplistic for what I want from a card game. Among other things, I like the interaction on an opponent's turn that is a key feature of games like MTG and Yugioh.
Still, I do dabble in the Pokémon TCG and usually have fun when I do. It is great that there are different experiences within the TCG world, and gaming world in general, and it is not a one size fits all industry. I am glad you found a game that works for you.
The app may have its issues, but it does facilitate play for a lot of different kinds of players.

The TCG it's great of course even with the current meta being below the avarage...
The issues with the online game is the large amout of bugs, bad gameplay experience and very limited content (like game modes, formats, events, in game tournaments, better looking card effects, smoother gameplay, etc.), the sad part is that the previous game TCG Online had all this stuff and more and without any significant bugs... this is why people that came from the "older version" of the game are disappointed and frustrated with this.

Money’s gone into Pocket because it’s shiny, new and easy. PTCGL is buggy and crashy, but it’s a case of “We Play It Because It’s Easier To Test Decks For Tournaments This Way Without Going Broke.” Playing in local game stores (LGS) is a great way to learn and make friends, because there’s no chat in Live.

PTCGL was new and shiny once, still didn't get a budget though. All the game needs is some love from the team and a budget to go with it
