Necroing is an issue I see on multiple Forums so I have just come to accept it. Yet to answer the topic, it leaves for quite a few variables: Singles, Doubles, Triples, Weather, Competitive vs. Regular playthrough and EV/IV/Nature sets. Personally, with little info to go on, I'd just pick a nice team from the regional Dex and roll with that. An example is a Yellow team that I like to use:
Jolteon(Electric) w/ Thunderbolt, Thundershock, Pin Missile, Swift
Parasect(Bug/Grass) Cut, Spore, Leech Life, Mega Drain
Ninetales(Fire) Quick Attack, Flamethrower, Confuse Ray, Ember
Lapras(Water/Ice) Body Slam, Ice Beam, Surf, Sing
Mr.Mime(Psychic) Psychic, Confusion, Barrier, Flash
Nidoqueen(Poison/Ground) Body Slam, Strength, Earthquake, Double KickSimple yet easy team to get every playthrough, although I do switch it up from time to time.
