Does the Mist Energy protect from attacks in the past?

The mist energy card says that it stops effects from attacks, but does it stop effects from attacks that occured before it was attached to a pokémon? The Hisuian Zoroark card from Lost Origin has an attack called Doom Curse costing 0 energy and has an effect, "At the end of your opponent's next turn, the Defending Pokémon will be knocked out." If this attack is used, and your opponent attaches a mist energy in the next turn, does that protect the pokémon from the attack?

No, it will not protect you from "attacks in the past".

If there's an effect that KO's your Pokemon at the end of the turn like Doom Curse it will still trigger (unless you move to the bench). All end-of-turn effects process first, only afterward you check for any additional KO's.

    No, it will not.
