what are the cards that cannot be used?

i havent play for very very long and recently got back.
i just got a Blastoise V battle deck from the shop but was shocked to find that i cannot use most of the cards. may i know why?

Pokemon has something called a rotation, where older cards are no longer legal for Standard. This happens once per year, and it's based on the letter in the lower left corner, known as a regulation mark. Currently, the legal letters are F, G and H. You can use the cards from that deck in Expanded, but not Standard.

@TechHog explained it well.
I wish Pokemon would make it clear in the shop, which products are legal for Standard play & which are not. It would help out new players.
