Cornerstone Ogerpon ex vs Mew ex Genome Hacking

My active pokemon Cornerstone Ogerpon ex (0 bench) was up against Mew ex with Restart ability.

My Ogerpon was hit with Genome Hacking with 140 damage from Ogerpon’s Demolish eventhough Cornerstone Ogerpon ex has the ability Cornerstone Stance which prevents all damage from attacks by opponent’s Pokemon that have an Ability.

Is this correct?

    Yes. Read the text under Demolish.

    This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness or Resistance, or by any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon.

    It ignores the Ability.

    I thought effects were things like poisoned, burned, etc. Why would it also include abilities?

    Those are special conditions. Effects are… well, basically everything that cards do besides damage and costs. The Ability applies a protection effect to the Pokémon, and the Attack is ignoring that effect.

    Also, that text would not make any sense in that case. None of the special conditions affect attack damage.
