Neutralizing Gas into Fusion Strike System

Just played a game where I had Galarian Weezing with Neutralizing Gas out and my opponent was still able to use Fusion Strike System to draw his hand back. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

  The Genesect may have had a Fusion Strike energy attached... Fusion Strike Energy's text reads, "Prevent all effects of your opponent’s Pokémon’s Abilities done to the Pokémon this card is attached to."
