im trying to make a map of the pokemon world where do i put kitakami

    It's implied that it's between Johto and Sinnoh iirc.

    I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where Kitakami is. I'm not even sure that it's its own region. My best guess is that it's near Johto.

    Kitakami appears to be based on the Tōhoku region of Japan - which would put it between Kanto and Sinnoh.

    Kitakami is a city located in Iwate Prefecture, in the Tōhoku region of northeastern Japan. Situated at the confluence of the Kitakami and Waga Rivers, it lies approximately 45 kilometers south of Morioka, the prefectural capital, and about 490 kilometers north of Tokyo.
