Can i play old cards?

Ive Got professor oak year 1995 88/102,

Mail from bill, bill 118/130, energy removal 79/102 1995,

Etc from 1995/1999 trainer and pokemon i want to play with my son how ive used to when i was Young, ive bought new etb and i want to make few decks to play and practice.

Can I play Old cards in competition??

    Most of the time, no. Nearly every tournament is played in standard style, which only allows the last two years of cards. This means that if you want to play competitively, then you need to buy new cards a lot. However, if you're just playing for fun, then it is fine to use old cards. There is a format called Expanded, which allows older expansions to be played. I don't know what the boundaries are on that but I don't think it will allow cards from 19995 or 1999.

    Thanks !! :) for now we'll play for fun becouse my son is 6, but good to now how I must prepare him for the future battles, he loves playing with me pokemon cards so i feel young again :D( he also love playing chess so im so proud him ❤️ :D)
