What level are the decks people play at local game stores?

I've been collecting Pokemon cards for about 8 years ago. I have played the online game loads but haven't really played with my physical cards much. If I was to go to a local game store what would the meta be like as I don't really want to spend money making decks with all ex cards and competitive trainer cards, I'd prefer to just use what I have in my collection that I've opened with booster packs. Is there a mix of deck levels generally, or does pretty much everyone have a well fleshed out deck even if it's not one of the top decks. Like, say I built a deck that had to random Pokemon ex like Toedscruel and Woe-Chien plus some other grass type Pokemon would it be doomed to stand any chance against other players?

I think that it will just vary by your local store/what area you are in. I imagine that some are much more competitive than others.

You might just have to go try it out 🤷‍♂️

It really all depends, because when I play at my local tournaments some people are not as serious as others, like when I tell some of them a million times to build a better deck they don't listen... Others, however, are very competitive and(let's be honest) I'd rather play against them.
