I've heard it talked about every now and then and I was wondering how it worked. I think they had it in XY but I could never get it to work.

I'll be honest, I don't actually know all that much about it.

I do know that it has to do with catching Pokemon that you don't easily find in the games, like Carnivine by Sinnoh's Safari Zone. However, I do think that those games, along with Kanto's Safari Zone, are the easiest to understand.

In general, it has to do with catching Pokemon without actually using your Pokemon to aid in this. As a replacement, you usually get mud, rocks, & even types of treats (depends on the game, I think) to help catch the opposing Pokemon.

In one in X/Y apparently needs a friend for it to work. I don't know the full details of it, because I really don't have any firsthand experience to make finding out how it works easier.

Hope that helps in the slightest.
